Your Privacy
Crust and Chips respects your privacy and handles your personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 2020 (NZ). This page explains what information we collect, how we use it, and who we share it with.
What we collect
When you place an order with us, we (or our service providers) may collect:
- Your name
- Phone number
- Email address
- Order details (what you ordered, pickup/delivery time)
- Payment information (processed and stored by Pin Payments — we don’t hold any card details on our site)
We don’t collect any more information than we need to take and fulfil your order.
How we collect it
We collect this information directly from you when you place an order online through our ordering platform, MyPreOrder. MyPreOrder takes your order and stores your customer details on our behalf.
How we use your information
We use your information to:
- Take and process your order
- Contact you about your order if needed (e.g. it’s ready, or there’s a problem)
- Process payment for your order
- Meet our legal and accounting obligations
We don’t use your information for marketing unless you’ve specifically agreed to that, and we never sell your information to anyone.
Who we share it with
We use trusted third-party services to run our ordering and payments. These providers only receive the information they need to do their job:
- MyPreOrder — takes your order and stores your customer and order details.
- Pin Payments — processes your card payment securely. We do not see or store your full card details; Pin Payments handles this in line with card industry security standards (PCI DSS).
These providers may store or process data outside New Zealand (for example, in Australia). Where this happens, we expect them to protect your information to a standard that’s comparable to New Zealand law.
We won’t share your information with anyone else except where required by law. MyPreOrder and Pin Payments each have their own privacy policies covering how they handle your information, which apply alongside this one.
How we protect your information
We rely on MyPreOrder and Pin Payments to keep your information secure using industry-standard measures. We don’t hold or store any credit card information on our site — all payment details are handled directly by Pin Payments.
How long we keep it
We keep order and customer information only as long as needed for the purpose it was collected, or as required by law (for example, tax and accounting record-keeping requirements).
Your rights
Under the Privacy Act 2020, you have the right to ask what personal information we hold about you and to ask us to correct it if it’s wrong. To do this, please contact us.
Complaints
If you think we’ve mishandled your personal information, please contact us first so we can sort it out. If you’re not happy with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner: www.privacy.org.nz
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page.
